Family Medicine East is now able to schedule TeleVisits where they are appropriate for the patient and provider. Following is some information on TeleVisits:

What is a TeleVisit?

  • A TeleVisit is a live appointment with your provider over a computer or smartphone with full visual and audio capability. With a TeleVisit, you have complete communication with your provider without coming to our office.

How are TeleVisits helpful?

  • TeleVisits can be very useful in emergency situations, such as the current coronavirus pandemic. With a TeleVisit, you will not have to come to the office and possibly be exposed to the virus.
  • In a more normal situation, TeleVisits may be used when an office visit is inconvenient or impossible, or when your provider believes the issue does not require an in-office visit. Your insurance company will determine whether they will continue to cover TeleVisits during more normal situations.
  • A TeleVisit can save you the time of coming to our office to meet with your provider.

How much does a TeleVisit cost?

  • This is dependent on your insurance coverage but should be the same or less than a regular office visit.

How do I get started?

  • You may use either a computer or a smartphone for TeleVisits.
  • If you would like to use a computer (either a Windows PC or a Mac):
    • Your computer must have a camera and microphone.
    •  If you are using a Windows PC, you must have the Chrome web browser installed.
    • Click on the link below for using a computer and the Patient Portal for your TeleVisit.
  • If you would like to use your smartphone (either iPhone or Android):
    • Nothing needs to be done to prepare your smartphone for the TeleVisit
    •  Click on the link below for additional information when using a smartphone for your TeleVisit.

Why are TeleVisits important?

  • The TeleVisit gives you another method of obtaining care, when it may not be convenient or possible for you to have an in-office appointment. Family Medicine East believes it would be desirable to have as many of their patients as possible enabled for TeleVisits, in case of emergencies or other situations that would make this the best way of providing care.
  • Please contact our office for additional information, or if you have any questions.
